“You are only as strong as the weakest link” has meaning when talking about a chain of command. Hierarchy commands authority and the rock of Peter’s profession of faith puts our pope at the top of the hierarchy. There are links to his authority and I, as pastor, am one of those links. The good news is that those who minister here at SVdP are also part of the chain. The bottom end of the chain is called “subsidiarity.” A great importance is given to these links because this is the immediate level of ministry is where God shares his authority. The grace of the Holy Spirit works through us to accomplish the gift of grace and salvation. Servant leadership is in service to subsidiarity especially to the weakest links. I also create new links to be added to the chain. Those that need help always have the hierarchy to help. The closest hierarchical link in the chain is I the pastor.
Stewardship of Time and Talent is a time to get plugged into the chain of command. This how Jesus “runs” his church and now is the time to accept the invitation. Great fulfillment is felt by those who become ministers. They feel like they are a part of something so much bigger than themselves, and they really are. Please join and experience God’s joy.
Sincerely in Christ,
Very Reverend Andrew Kemberling, V.F.
