Mary plays an important role in both feast days, Holy Family and Mother of God. Her service is a model for us all. We all have a part to play in our families of origin. Nurturing is the role of a mother. Growth happens when the conditions and the circumstances are at their best. Safety and security are needed for child-rearing. Food on the table and clothes to wear make things even better. Fathers are good at providing these things. These are traditional roles and sometimes these roles are reversed. Whatever happens in a family, service is key value. Doing things for others and not for ourselves is the hallmark of Mary’s role. Is it for us? Let the experience of our family life use Mary’s selfless service as a model for what our roles look like in our families. I want to thank all who have worked hard providing our parish with a beautiful church as we celebrate the Christmas Season. Thank you for being selfless in your support to us. Your stewardship is greatly appreciated. Happy New Year!
Sincerely in Christ,
Very Reverend Andrew Kemberling, V.F.
